As more Value Added Distributors (VADs) move to join Oracle?s VAD Remarketer program

, Oracle today announced that it now has more than 38 Remarketer Authorized VADs signed up globally. Through these VADs more than 1000 resellers worldwide closed Oracle business. This represents an incremental 500 new resellers and four new VADs that are participating in the program since May 2008.

Five new products have been added to the Oracle 1-Click Ordering product family, bringing the full menu of products available to Remarketers to 10. New products added include Oracle® Weblogic Server Standard Edition

, Oracle Internet Developer Suite

and Oracle Universal Content Management Standard Edition

In its first year, the Oracle VAD Remarketer Program facilitated 500 new resellers and over 650 transactions of Oracle software. Half way through the program's second year it has produced over 550 new resellers and over 700 transactions. New resellers are transacting Oracle business almost on a daily basis.
Additionally, Oracle was recently awarded the ?Best SMB-Focused Vendor Partner? award for 2008 by Tech Data, one of the world?s largest distributors of technology products from leading IT hardware and software producers. This award acknowledged Oracle?s focus and program commitment to small and mid-size businesses through the VAD Remarketer and Oracle 1-Click Ordering processes that enabled over 150 Tech Data resellers to transact Oracle business for the first time

The combination of Oracle WebLogic Server, a component of Oracle Fusion Middleware, together with Oracle Database 11g on mission-critical HP Integrity server blades running HP-UX 11i v3 delivered the record-breaking results, further demonstrating Oracle Fusion Middleware's leadership in Java application server performance and scalability.
With this result, Oracle surpasses the best IBM WebSphere multi-node result with IBM DB2 by delivering more than 30 percent greater performance per core.2

Benchmark Details

Oracle WebLogic Server 10g R 3 together with Oracle Database 11g achieved 21,602.31 SPECjAppServer2004 JOPS@Standard (jAppServer Operations Per Second). Oracle WebLogic Server was running on 13 HP Integrity BL870c server blades, each with four Dual-Core Intel® Itanium® 1.6 GHz processors. The database server was running on an HP Integrity Superdome server with 64 Dual-Core Intel® Itanium® 1.6 GHz processors and HP StorageWorks 8100 Enterprise Virtual Arrays. Strengthening US Dollar Reduces GAAP EPS by 4 Cents and Reduces Non-GAAP EPS by 3 Cents

Oracle Corporation (NASDAQ: ORCL) today announced fiscal 2009 Q2 GAAP earnings per share were $0.25, in line with GAAP earnings per share in Q2 of last year. Second quarter GAAP total revenues were up 6% to $5.6 billion, while quarterly GAAP net income was down 1% to $1.3 billion. GAAP software revenues were up 8% to $4.5 billion with new software license revenues down 3% to $1.6 billion. GAAP software license updates and product support revenues were up 14% to $2.9 billion. GAAP services revenues were down 2% to $1.1 billion. GAAP operating income was up 11% to $2.0 billion and GAAP operating margin was up 166 basis points to 35%. GAAP operating cash flow on a trailing twelve month basis was $8.1 billion, up 16%.
Without the $0.04 per share impact of the US dollar strengthening compared to foreign currencies, Oracle?s reported Q2 GAAP earnings per share would have been up 11% to $0.29, with total GAAP revenues up 12%, quarterly GAAP net income up 10%, GAAP software revenues up 14%, GAAP new software license revenues up 5%, GAAP software license updates and product support revenues up 20%, GAAP services revenues up 5%, and GAAP operating income up 20%.
Second quarter non-GAAP earnings per share were up 9% to $0.34, and non-GAAP net income was up 8% to $1.7 billion, compared to the same quarter last year. Non-GAAP total revenues were up 6% to $5.7 billion. Non-GAAP software revenues were up 8% to $4.6 billion and non-GAAP software license updates and product support revenues were up 15% to $2.9 billion.
Without the $0.03 per share impact of the US dollar strengthening compared to foreign currencies, Oracle?s reported Q2 non-GAAP earnings per share would have been up 18% to $0.37, with non-GAAP net income up 17%, non-GAAP total revenues up 13%, non-GAAP total software revenues up 15%, and non-GAAP software license updates and product support revenues up 21%.
?Our non-GAAP operating income grew 25% in constant currency to $2.6 billion in Q2, resulting in operating margins of 46%,? said Oracle Executive Vice President and CFO, Jeff Epstein. ?In addition, Oracle generated $7.6 billion in free cash flow in the past twelve months, up 15% over the same period last year.?
?We signed our largest on-demand sales force automation contract this quarter,? said Oracle CEO, Larry Ellison. ?This was just one of several recent wins over salesforce.com. We also sold our first database machine, launching an all new and important business for Oracle.?

Metrix, the leading electricity meter owner and operator in greater Auckland, New Zealand, implemented Oracle® Utilities Meter Data Management to provide a centralized, robust meter data management system and support the company?s deployment of smart meters as part of its advanced metering infrastructure (AMI).
Metrix deployed a pilot program on 5,000 smart meters to test its Elster EnergyAxis System ? which communicates with customers? electricity meters and then provides interval and consumption data to Oracle Utilities Meter Data Management. The pilot program is helping Metrix evaluate how smart metering technology will enable it to add value to the services it delivers to retail electric providers and energy consumers.
Oracle Utilities Meter Data Management interfaces with any type or brand of meter, providing real-time reads and the ability to disconnect or reconnect the meter. The Oracle system also interfaces to the company?s EDMI smart meters to provide one-way communication with smart meters for interval and consumption data. With Oracle, Metrix can reduce workload and effort duplication because the system provides a single, standard interface for the organization and its customers.
Further, Oracle Utilities Meter Data Management provides a number of Web services including instant reads to retailers. It also receives meter setup changes from Metrix?s customer information system (CIS) and provides billing meter reads to the CIS.
Metrix?s smart meter deployment is the first step in delivering an infrastructure that provides better quality information and meter services to Auckland. Metrix?s customers and end users now benefit from faster data acquisition and meter intelligence regarding their usage and peak demand information, as well as the health of the meter systems ? improving revenue streams and service reliability. With smart metering, Metrix will be able to provide its customers with the usage data they need to make informed decisions about their energy use and ultimately reduce the cost of electricity.
As a result of the successful pilot program, Metrix has proceeded to deploy smart meters to the rest of its 300,000 electric customers.
